Atazor-R Tablet (Atazanavir 300mg and Ritonavir 100mg) – Overview
Atazor-R Tablet contains Atazanavir 300mg and Ritonavir 100mg, it is a fixed-dose combination medication used primarily in the treatment of HIV-1 infection. Atazanavir is a protease inhibitor, and Ritonavir acts both as a protease inhibitor and as a pharmacokinetic enhancer.
Medical Uses / Indications
This combination is indicated for use in adults and adolescents (aged 12 years and older) with HIV-1 infection, usually in combination with other antiretroviral agents.
How Atazor-R Tablet Works (Mechanism of Action)
Atazanavir inhibits the HIV protease enzyme, preventing the cleavage of viral polyproteins and resulting in the production of immature, non-infectious viral particles. Ritonavir enhances the effect of Atazanavir by inhibiting its metabolism, thereby increasing Atazanavir plasma levels.
