Alltera Tablet (Lopinavir 200mg and Ritonavir 50mg) – Overview
Alltera Tablet contains Lopinavir 200 mg and Ritonavir 50 mg is a fixed-dose antiretroviral combination used in the management of HIV-1 infection. It contains two protease inhibitors: lopinavir (the primary active agent) and ritonavir (mainly as a pharmacokinetic enhancer).
Medical Uses / Indications
Indicated in combination with other antiretroviral agents for the treatment of HIV-1 infection in adults and children aged 14 days or older.
How Alltera Tablet Works (Mechanism of Action)
Both drugs inhibit the HIV-1 protease enzyme, which is essential for viral replication and maturation. Ritonavir’s main role at this dose is to inhibit the metabolism of lopinavir, increasing its blood levels and effectiveness.
