Duovir-N Tablet (Lamivudine 150mg, Zidovudine 300mg and Nevirapine 200mg) – Overview
Duovir-N Tablet contains Lamivudine 150mg, Zidovudine 300mg and Nevirapine 200mg is a fixed-dose combination antiretroviral medication used in the management of HIV infection. This combination helps reduce the amount of HIV in the body, improving immune function and decreasing the risk of developing AIDS-related complications.
Medical Uses / Indications
This medication is indicated for the treatment of HIV-1 infection in adults and adolescents as part of antiretroviral therapy (ART). It is prescribed in combination with other antiretroviral agents.
How Duovir-N Tablet Works (Mechanism of Action)
- Lamivudine and Zidovudine are nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NRTIs) that block reverse transcriptase, an enzyme HIV needs to replicate.
- Nevirapine is a non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NNRTI) that binds directly to reverse transcriptase, inhibiting viral replication.
Together, these medicines suppress HIV replication and reduce viral load.
