Olanib 150 tablet contains Olaparib 150mg is an oral medication used in the treatment of certain cancers, most notably ovarian, breast, pancreatic, and prostate cancers that have specific genetic mutations (such as BRCA mutations). It belongs to a class of drugs known as PARP inhibitors.

Medical Uses / Indications

Olanib 150 Tablet (Olaparib 150mg) is indicated for the treatment of:

• Advanced ovarian cancer with BRCA mutations
• Metastatic breast cancer with BRCA mutations
• Metastatic pancreatic cancer with BRCA mutations
• Metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer with specific genetic alterations

How Olanib 150 tablet Works (Mechanism of Action)

Olaparib inhibits the enzyme poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP). PARP is involved in repairing damaged DNA. By blocking this enzyme, olaparib prevents cancer cells with BRCA mutations from repairing their DNA, leading to cell death.

Dosage & Administration

• The standard recommended dose is 300 mg (two 150 mg tablets) taken orally twice daily.
• Tablets should be swallowed whole and can be taken with or without food.
• Dose may be adjusted based on side effects or kidney function.

Possible Side Effects

• Common: Nausea, vomiting, fatigue, anemia, decreased appetite, diarrhea, headache, cough.
  Serious: Myelodysplastic syndrome/acute myeloid leukemia (rare), severe bone marrow suppression, lung inflammation.

Drug Interactions

• Strong or moderate CYP3A inhibitors/inducers (e.g., certain antibiotics, antifungals, anticonvulsants) may increase or decrease olaparib levels.
• Avoid grapefruit or Seville oranges as they may affect drug levels.
